Dear Our Valued Customers,

We are reaching out regarding upcoming Code Signing Compliance changes. Effective June 1st, 2021, the CA/Browser Forum mandates using a minimum key size of 3072 bit for newly issued (reissued/renewed) Code Signing Certificates. This affects all publicly trusted CAs issuing CodeSigning certificates. The summary of changes outlined below:

Changes and Recommendations:

Starting May 31, 2021, all newly issued Code Signing Certificates (including re-issues & renewals) will be issued with or require issuance with 4096 bit keys
Note: Existing Code Signing Certificates with 2048 bit keys, issued prior to May 31, 2021, as well as signatures applied by those certificates, will continue to work and be trusted. The new mandate only applies to newly issued certificates.
With Timestamping being a critical component for long-term validity of Code Signing, GlobalSign updated their timestamping URLs and the key length from 2048 to 3072 bit keys

Code Signing Certificates and New eTokens:

Impact: The Safenet 5110 FIPS eToken included with prior EV Code Signing orders (and used industry wide) are not compatible with key sizes larger than 2048 bit.
Starting in May 2021, GlobalSign will provide new/compatible USB Tokens for newly issued (reissued/renewed) EV Code Signing orders.
- The new compliant token model is called: Safenet etoken 5110 CC (940)
Notes:

- Existing EV Code Signing orders are not impacted unless the certificate is reissued or renewed (after May 31, 2021) and at that time GlobalSign will provide a replacement token.

- For Standard Code Signing Certificate and/or HSM Orders where a customer uses their own removable hardware or HSM, please ensure the device/HSM supports 4096 bit keys.

Timestamping Service Changes:

Please migrate to the new R6 Code Signing Timestamping URLs below by June 1, 2021.
Effective June 1, 2021 the legacy R3 TSA URL will be depreciated.

With its strong partnership commitment, GlobalSign and eMudhra have granted and endorsed SSD to market and sell its solutions & services under respective brand name locally. On top of that it helps organization to achieve internal and external regulatory compliance.

Its experiences -- SSD was engaged with a few of its key customers to provide security consultancy work in proposing a PKI blueprint & strategy for the infrastructure development to facilitate the use of PKI-Private CA for their users. The subsequent phase of this initiative is to digitalize the document signatory by building the right process and workflow in achieving digital transformation for the organization. It will help to streamline & improve the Security, Productivity and Cost-Saving for long-term business activity.
